Viveiro Country Club
Nestled amidst the sun-kissed dunes of Sal Island in Cape Verde, the Viveiro Golf & Country Club offers an unforgettable experience that merges the beauty of the Atlantic Ocean with the challenge of a desert landscape. This 18-holes, par-72 golf course spans approximately 6,100 meters, creating an oasis of greenery and excitement in an otherwise arid environment.
The creation of this golf course on Sal Island is a testament to overcoming the impossible. With scarce rainfall and limited freshwater, developing a lush golf course seemed like a far-fetched dream. However, the ingenious design of the course limits grass to the game areas, with the surrounding moonlike red, grey, and brown soil blending seamlessly with the vibrant greenery of palm trees, aloe vera.
Sustainability is at the heart of Viveiro Golf & Country Club, with a special paspalum grass that can thrive on up to 70% seawater, significantly reducing water consumption and environmental impact. Over the past 14 years, the course has created local jobs, fostered tourism, and contributed to the island’s lush tropical forest, all while preserving its natural beauty.
